I, Lady Theresa Thombs, would like to thank you for visiting my site.  I am running for Texas State House of Representatives for District 91, which includes North Richland Hills, Richland Hills, Watauga and Haltom City.

To make it simple, my platform focuses on three areas:
1.  A freeze on your property taxes.  During the next legislative session, there are several amendments proposed to increase property taxes.  It is critical to oppose these efforts so we can stop further out-of-control spending.

2  By implementing a one-and-a-half cent sales tax for educational funding programs through a constitutional amendment. All revenue from this will be earmarked 100% for education and create greater educational opportunities for our children.  Plus as a constitutional amendment, politicians could not raise the tax unless the people of Texas agree to it.  It would also allow us to eliminate the margins tax on small business that is killing business and costing us jobs.

Fiscal policy experts at the Texas Public Policy Foundation looked at the plan and said that it would not only allow us to eliminate the margins tax all together, but if implemented correctly, could also significantly reduce or even eliminate the practice of using property taxes for funding education.
See the tab marked "Education Funding" for a more detailed look into the tax proposal.

3.  To fight for more than $0.05 cents of our area's transportation funds we pay in taxes.  Presently, $0.95 of every dollar goes to the glamor regions of our state- Austin, San Antonio, and Houston.  If we were just able to keep $0.18 cents out of every dollar, our transportation needs would be satisfied. One example that illustrates our funding starvation is the necessity of toll roads on Hwy 183 and 820. The new construction on these highways will require toll lanes, because we are sending $0.95 cents out of every dollar to other areas.

These are but a handful of commonsense solutions that we must implement in Austin.

I realize that these solutions will be difficult to pass because career politicians would never let this happen. These solutions would likely become deadlocked or even killed while being drafted in committee.

That's why I'm fighting for TERM LIMITS-specifically, no more than 3 terms for a state representative, and 2 terms for a state senator, totaling no more than 14 years of public service.

Within the first twenty-four hours of when our next legislative session begins,
I will PUSH this bill through to the legislative floor.

If our elected officials cannot be effective and accomplish anything in that time, then they might as well stay home.

Implementing term limits will keep elected state officials accountable and make the passage of the common sense solutions we need even more likely.

Ladies and gentlemen, we cannot sit idle any longer. We need to pay more attention to what is happening in our district, in our state, and in our federal government. We must take action now!

Elect me to the Texas State House of Representatives, and I vow to stay focused on these three areas.  I won't be popular with those who just want to get along so they can stay real long.  But Your voice and Your concerns will be heard.

Please join me in this movement for your voice to be heard. Volunteer, discuss my ideas, and call me! Let's have a conversation about your thoughts and concerns.
